McGrath Foundation Celebrates 20 Years
We’ve proudly supported the McGrath Foundation since 2009, helping to raise over $1.6 million with the help of our members who take out a Pink Debit or Credit Card.
For two decades, the McGrath Foundation has been there for individuals and families during their toughest moments. This September, the Mcgrath Foundation is celebrating 20 years of delivering care to Australians experiencing cancer.
With close to 1 in 2 people in Australia likely to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse has never been more important.
A Partnership Built on Care
Community First Bank and McGrath Foundation joined in partnership 16 years ago. Since 2009, with the help of our members, we have raised over $1.6 million to support McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities nationwide. Every Pink Credit and Debit Card has made a difference, turning everyday banking into something bigger.
How the Pink Card Helps
Half the annual fee of our Pink Credit Card1 ($50) and $1 of the monthly fee on our Pink Debit Card ($2) goes directly to the McGrath Foundation. This helps to support the cost of funding McGrath Cancer Care Nurses and so many other efforts that the McGrath Foundation does to support families experiencing cancer.
Together we can make a difference
We’ve donated over $1.6 million to the McGrath Foundation since 2009. It costs around $140,000 to fund one McGrath Cancer Care Nurse for a year.
About the FoundationTara’s story
Cancer struck at what should have been one of the happiest times of Tara’s life – while she was pregnant with her second child. On Christmas Eve 2021, Tara’s world shifted with a breast cancer diagnosis late in her pregnancy. Just days later, her baby girl was delivered safely.
Tara was given two weeks to recover from birth before she was thrown into a grueling treatment schedule that would continue until August 2023.In the midst of the diagnosis, came a lifeline – her McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Jade Curtain.
Peter’s Story
Having always been healthy and active, Peter was floored when he received a lung cancer diagnosis. Peter’s diagnosis led to a robotic lung resection, followed by two weeks in hospital.
Thankfully, he received the support and care of Bendigo based McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Laura Tuddenham throughout this immensely challenging time.
Wayne’s Story
Being diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2024 came as a complete shock to Wayne, beginning a year-long experience of surgery and treatment.
Fortunately, Wayne received the care of McGrath Cancer Care Nurse Zeina Hayes from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond easing the uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis brings.
